LOUISIANA STATE EXHIBIT MUSEUM TO PRESENT
SHREVEPORT ART CLUB 97th ANNUAL JURIED SHOW
Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin and the Friends of LSEM, Inc. announce the collaborative exhibit of the Shreveport Art Club with the Shreveport Writers Club, “Paired Expressions: Visual and Lyrical Art.” Shreveport Art Club, celebrating its 97th year, will present the Annual Juried Show with an artists’ reception and Awards Presentation on Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Writers will give recitations of their works. Light refreshments will be served.
The Shreveport Art Club’s Member Show will be on display through August 23, 2019. The staff of the museum invites the public to view the exhibit during regular museum hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road.
Criteria for inclusion in the show are that all works must be original in concept and completed since June 2018. The entry must not have won an award in Shreveport or Bossier shows nor have been shown in a previous SAC show. Categories include acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, graphics, mixed media collage and photography.
Judging the show will be Stacy Medaries, an art instructor at Delta State Community College in Monroe.
For this year’s show, there will be 25 artists participating according to museum curator, Nita Cole. “We are so excited that some of the artwork will reflect North Louisiana’s artistic traditions. With so many talented artists and the variety of media displayed, the show will have great appeal for our visitors.”
The Art Club members participating are: Dawn Ash, Christine Bailey, Stephen Banks, Celia Carr, Cathy Cobb, Joan Cole, Nan Cole, Ali Cook, Jo Cooper, Trudy Daniel, Marion Davis, Becky Garner, Peggy Guilbert, Adena Helm, Bob Horne, Judy Horne, Edward McDonnell, Susan Pierce, Judy Presley, Brent C. Reed, Jeanne Marie Reed, Nancy Scott, Kay Smith, Ron Smith, and Linda Snider.
The Writers include Stephen Banks, Leaura Bearden, Stephanie Bullard, Loretta Casteen, Jeane Cummings, Julie Dowis, Mary Dumars, Ashley Havird, David Havird, D.L. Holmes, Tiffany Pennywell, Ken Shively and Ron Smith.
