Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin and the LSEM are announcing the opening of a new exhibit entitled: Remembering 47 Years at Libbey Glass Shreveport.  The exhibit, which opened on March 15, will run through May 25, with a reception featuring author Rita Rabalais on April 18 from 2pm-4pm.

“We want to thank Louisiana State Exhibit Museum for recognizing the contribution Libbey Glass has made not only in Shreveport but throughout the world,” Rabalais said. “These contributions would not have been possible if not for the hard work and dedication of men and women from the local area, many of whom worked for decades making America’s glassware.”

Based in Toledo, Ohio, Libbey-Owens, one of the world’s largest glass tableware manufacturers, had been in Shreveport since 1922. Libbey’s Glass Plant in Shreveport and the accompanying Factory Outlet store closed December 30, 2020.

Remembering 47 Years at Libbey Glass Shreveport will be displayed in the West Wing Gallery through May 25. The public is invited to view the exhibit during regular museum hours: Monday through Friday, 9am-4pm. This year, LSEM will be open during the new Spring State Fair on May 1 from 12pm-5pm.
