LOUISIANA STATE EXHIBIT MUSEUM TO PRESENT LOUISIANA MUD MAVENS CERAMIC ART  WINTER EXHIBITION AND SALE

SHREVEPORT, La. — Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin announces the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum will host an exhibit of Louisiana Mud Mavens Ceramic Art from November 21, 2021 through December 27, 2021.  Techniques used to create the artwork includes hand building with coils and slabs, throwing on the wheel, and sculpting.  Stoneware and porcelain clays fired in oxidation kilns are used to complete their unique creations.  The Exhibition of glazed pottery vessels and sculptures will open on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  The public is invited to meet the artists and view the exhibit in the West Wing Gallery. Light refreshments will be served.

Mark Poole, teaches pottery and ceramic art classes at LSUS with the Continuing Education Department. Over the last five years, his students comprise a diverse cross section of NW Louisiana’s adult population, ranging from college students to the recently retired.  According to Poole, “While pottery has become a beloved hobby for some, and an extra source of income for a few, it has filled a creative and artistic niche for all.”  

Participating Artists include, Erica Cheaney, Trudy Daniel, Amanda Mann Davis, Catherine Evans, Paula Frierson, Gwyn Hults, Julie Noles, Kim Norton, Mark Poole, Geena Roboski, Kathie Thomas, Thaddaeus Wallace and Esther White.

The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road. From Interstate 20 traveling west, take either Greenwood or Hearne exit.  If driving east from Texas, use the Jewella exit and turn right onto Greenwood Road. Admission is free and tours are available by appointment.
