Friends of LSEM announce the opening of an exhibit of original artworks, Project Talent, by Caddo Parish High School students.  A reception honoring artists and their teachers will be on Thursday evening May 9, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served.

In 1975, Henry Price, Art Supervisor of the Caddo Parish School System, developed “Project Talent” as an enrichment program for those high school students who excel in the visual arts. This after-school program is geared to those students who plan to pursue some form of art as a career choice. “Project Talent” meets weekly in a studio setting and taught by art educators Shirlene Alexander and Curtis Bias.

This year’s exhibit will feature student artists with 2-dimensional work from C.E. Byrd High Schools are: Caitlin Harris, Trinity Knight, and Reggie Williams.  Other High Schools represented:  Kayla Campbell Captain Shreve and Courtney Thompson Caddo Virtual Academy.

Caddo Magnet High School students include:  Madeleine Berry, Savannah Brister, Tiffany Clinton, Phoebe Cragon, Charity Durr, Anna Claire Graham, Sloan Hall,  Anna Pryce Hardtner, Lyssa Harmon,  Bailey Hayes, Emma Joffrion, Elizabeth Jordan, Magnet Renee’ Katz, Kaitlyn Killian, Michael Landry, Morgan McGuire, Alexis Nuban, Abbygail Nickels, Erika Pendleton,  Sidney Marie Ross, Ashley Russell, Laura Sharlow, Ashley Stephens, and Rachel Stevenson.

Caddo Magnet teacher Curtis Bias will also present students who have created 3-dimensional abstract sculpture and figural images based on anatomy. The students are: Allison Clark, Emily Dowd Zoe Eide, Ashley Eubanks, Kelly Gerald, Cassie Halford, Jamie King, and Sara Merritt.

The show will offer a variety of paintings on canvas and paper in Prisma colored pencil, mixed media and acrylic, in addition to the handmade pottery. According to museum curator Nita Cole, “We are excited about giving students experience in preparing for a professional exhibition and the opportunity to display their work in a museum setting.”
