SUMMARY:CREATIVE ART CONNECTION
DESCRIPTION:Secretary of State Tom Schedler and the Friends of LSEM announce the opening of an extraordinary art exhibit of the Creative Art Connection of Bossier Parish.   The Juried Winter Art show will open on Sunday\, April 8\, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with an awards ceremony and artists’ reception.  Light refreshments will be served.  \nFounded in 1979\, the Creative Art Connection is a non-profit organization whose purpose it is to stimulate cultural development in the Bossier City community by providing activities and an outlet for the talents of all craftsmen in the field of fine arts. The organization encourages outreach in the community through the production of creative work and the appreciation of art.   \nThere are forty-one members of the group\, mostly located in Bossier parish\, who will offer works for sale. Artists participating will be Maria Ashcraft\, Michelle Burke\, Jean Clarkson\, Joan Cole\, Virginia Cook\, Gretchen Crawford\, Betty Hatcher\, Shirley Koval\, Beverly Maleby\, Deborah Mullinnix\, Kathleen Pate\, Carolyn Pitts\, Judy Presley\, Beth Roubique\, and Marilyn Wagner. \nAccording to spokesperson Carolyn Pitts\, the Creative Art Connection encourages the study of art by offering the Virginia Cook College Scholarship for visual art.   \nThe show will offer a variety of mixed media and artworks on canvas\, and paper in oil\, acrylic\, watercolor\, and pastel.  The original artworks truly represent the plein aire technique depicting landscapes of Northwest Louisiana. \nThe Creative Art Connection of Bossier Parish exhibit will be on display on the west wing gallery from April 8\, 2018 until Friday April 27\, 2018. The public is invited to view the exhibit during regular museum hours: Monday through Friday\, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road\, between Hearne and Jewella Streets.
