CREATIVE ART CONNECTION

Louisiana Secretary of State, Kyle Ardoin and The Friends of LSEM announce the opening of an extraordinary art exhibit of the Creative Art Connection of Bossier Parish.   The Winter Art show will open on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with an awards ceremony and artists’ reception.  Light refreshments will be served. 

Celebrating 41 years, the Creative Art Connection is a non-profit organization whose purpose it is to stimulate cultural development in the Bossier City community by providing activities and an outlet for the talents of all craftsmen in the field of fine arts. The organization encourages outreach in the community through the production of creative work and the appreciation of art.  

There are forty-one members of the group, mostly located in Bossier parish, who will offer works for sale. Artists participating will be Maria Ashcraft, Erica Branch, Theresa Billau, Billie Brown, Michelle Burke, Jean Clarkson, Joan Cole, Lee Cook, Virginia Cook, Gretchen Crawford, Trudy Daniel, Ann Evans,  Dot Fowler, Rick Hollowell, Shirley Koval, Beverly Maleby, Deborah Mullinnix, Kathleen Pate, Carolyn Pitts, Judy Presley, Beth Roubique, Malik Stewart, Kim Thompson, Wesley Touchstone and Rita Wynn.

According to spokesperson Carolyn Pitts, the Creative Art Connection encourages the study of art by offering the Virginia Cook College Scholarship for visual art.  

The juried show will offer a variety of mixed media and artworks on canvas, and paper in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel.  The original artworks truly represent the plein aire technique depicting landscapes of Northwest Louisiana.  Guest judge will be Louisiana Animal Society artist, Don Edwards.

The Creative Art Connection of Bossier Parish exhibit will be on display in the West Wing Gallery from March 8, 2020 until Friday June 13, 2020. The public is invited to view the exhibit during regular museum hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road, between Hearne and Jewella Streets.
