LOUISIANA STATE EXHIBIT MUSEUM TO PRESENT

LOUISIANA MUD MAVENS CERAMIC ART

SHREVEPORT, La. — Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin invites the public to view an exhibition of the Louisiana Mud Mavens Ceramic Art at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum from August 6 through August 25. The exhibition of glazed pottery and sculptures will open with an artists’ reception on Sunday, August 6 from 2-4 p.m. with light refreshments provided by Friends of LSEM. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Artists use several techniques to create their works, including hand building with coils and slabs, throwing on the wheel and sculpting. They then fire their stoneware and porcelain clays in oxidation kilns to complete their unique creations. Participating artists include: Trudy Daniel, Amanda Mann Davis, Catherine Evans, Addie Hinze, Gwyn Hults, Mark Poole, Kathie Thomas and BriAnne Youngblood.
