Excellence in Art by Caddo Art Educators

Louisiana Secretary of State, Kyle Ardoin, LSEM Friends and Henry E. Price, Fine Arts Specialist of Caddo Parish Public Schools announce the opening of an exhibit of original artworks, Excellence in Art, by Caddo Parish Educators. The exhibit will open in the West Wing Gallery on Sunday, July 7th 2019 with a reception honoring the art teachers from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
The Caddo Parish Educators Art exhibit will be on display in the West Wing Gallery until July 28, 2019. The public is invited to view the exhibit during regular museum hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road, between Hearne and Jewella Streets.
Under the direction of artist and educator Henry E. Price, teachers in the Caddo Parish School system are a dedicated and talented group. Mr. Price has been an integral part of the northwest Louisiana art scene for numerous years, and serves as the President of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) Board.
Each year, the parish employs about 75 teachers in art education and about a third of them will exhibit this summer. Artists exhibiting include Shirlene Alexander, Edward Allen, Marabella Dunn, Rachel Hollingsworth, Marla Hyman, Latoya Jackson, Patricia Mason, Morgan Oliver, Caleb Phillips, Henry Price, Claire Simmons, Martinis Stephens, Shelia Taylor, Leah Welch, Stephanie White, Janet Wolfe and pottery artists, Curtis Bias and Rachel Pearson.
“We are excited about teachers having the opportunity of displaying their work in a museum setting for the public to appreciate,” according to museum curator Nita Cole. The show will offer a variety of acrylic and oil paintings, batik, photography, watercolor, mixed media and ceramics for sale.
