Born on January 22, 1916 to a family of workers in Texarkana glass factories, Minor Vinck is now known for his beautiful sand carved, hand carved and copper wheel engraving glass art and sculpture. He executed a number of wood carvings under the direction of nationally-known sculptor, Arthur Morgan. The collection also includes a 303 British Enfield Rifle with a hand carved wood stock and engraved silver barrel. In fact, Mr. Vinck recently (summer 2015) completed carving and engraving another rifle. Watch the video below to hear Mr. Vinck tell you more about himself, and visit the museum to see his works in person.
In 2013, the Shreveport Times compiled 35 pictures of Vinck’s life and works. See them here.
