MARKS IN TIME: DYSON-REANS-SOFFER
June 2, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, repeating until June 28, 2019
The Friends of LSEM announce the opening of an extraordinary art exhibit of three prominent local and regional artists – Alan Dyson, Anthony Reans and Ellen Soffer. Marks in Time, an exhibit of paintings and multimedia works, will open on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with an artists’ reception. Light refreshments will be served.
Each artist interprets his own work within the parameter of the title of the exhibit – Marks in Time.
Alan Dyson is an award winning multidisciplinary artist and singer-songwriter. “My work is in response to materials, environments, concepts or events. I often collaborate with musicians, visual artists, and multi-disciplinary innovators. Together we create, develop, enhance and construct unique objects, environments and experiences.”
Anthony Reans creates abstract compositions that concentrate on the connections between balance, space, surface, and relationship. “My work is like most other formal Op Art, in that it deals with the nature of subjective reality, interconnectedness, spatial relations, and perception. I cover the surfaces of my panels with colorful pinstripes, which creates tension.”
Ellen Soffer uses abstract compositional elements intuitively. “The use of small marks to create pattern and intensity of color is an important aspect of many of the paintings. My intention is that the paintings evoke feelings left behind by a dream, an emotion, or a memory…”
Marks in Time: Dyson – Reans – Soffer will be on display in the West Wing Gallery from June 2, 2019 until Friday June 28, 2019. The public is invited to view the exhibit during regular museum hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road, between Hearne and Jewella Streets.
