Shreveport Art Club’s 96th Annual Juried Show
LOUISIANA STATE EXHIBIT MUSEUM TO PRESENT
SHREVEPORT ART CLUB 96th ANNUAL JURIED SHOW
The Friends of LSEM, Inc. announce the opening of an extraordinary exhibit of the Shreveport Art Club. The Annual Juried Show, celebrating its 96th year in Shreveport, will open on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with an artists’ reception and Awards Presentation. Light refreshments will be served.
The Shreveport Art Club’s Member Show will be on display through August 31, 2018. The staff of the museum invites the public to view the exhibit during regular museum hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road.
Criteria for inclusion in the show are that all works must be original in concept and completed since June 2017. The entry must not have won an award in Shreveport or Bossier shows nor have been shown in a previous SAC show. Categories include acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, graphics, mixed media collage and photography.
Judging the show will be Julie Crews of Ruston, an oil painter, who lives with her husband and five children. She grew up in Asheville, North Carolina and received her Associate of Arts from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2007. According to Crews, “My work concentrates on the very scenes of domestic life that take me away from the studio. How areas of the home are treated, the traffic and landscapes encountered while running errands, and the moods of people engaged in banal tasks influence my life, and therefore, my art.”
For this year’s show, there will be 26 artists participating according to museum curator, Nita Cole. “We are so excited that some of the artwork will reflect North Louisiana’s artistic traditions. With so many talented artists and the variety of media displayed, the show will have great appeal for our visitors. ”
The members participating are: Dawn Ash, Maria Ashcraft, Christine Bailey, Stephen Banks, Fran Barlow, Celia Carr, Cathy Cobb, Joan Cole, Jo Cooper, Trudy Daniel, Marion Davis, Lee Elwinger, Ann Evans, Becky Garner, Adena Helm, Bob Horne, Judy Horne, Jenny Lankfort, Susan Pierce, Brent C. Reed, Jeanne Marie Reed, Nancy Scott, Kay Smith, Wesley Touchstone, Lila Walker, and William Wood.
